Warwick Uni Student Covid-19 Storage FAQ

1. Is the storage secure?

We have a fully secured/alarmed warehouse, populated by staff Monday to Saturday.
There is CCTV inside the building and at the external entrance 24/7.

2. Can you pack items in a shared kitchen?

We can do this if the instructions and description of your belongings are clear. Please note- we will not pack goods that are:

  • Flammable
  • Perishable
  • Soiled/dirty
  • Otherwise considered unhygienic.
  • An attraction to pests and vermin
  • Potentially dangerous 
  • Could cause contamination.

3. Do you pack the bathrooms? 

We can do this- please note; we will not pack goods that are:

  • Flammable

  • Could cause contamination. 

4. Can I have an inventory?

A full inventory of items in each box is made and the information will be passed on to you. Any items not boxed, e.g., a guitar will be listed as loose items.

5. Do you deliver outside the UK?

Yes, we can deliver your goods outside the UK, charges will apply, prices on application. Please email students@davidgilkes.com the area and code for prices.

6. Are my items insured?

We will cover your goods up to £1000. The policy is NOT new for old and you MUST give a value of total consignment, prior to collection (please see terms and conditions for further details). Please note, prepacked items will be insured for £40.00 per box/item (see full T & C’s for details). 

7. How many boxes will I need? What if I order too many/not enough boxes?

Estimate the quantity by counting one metre shelf per small box and bedding, lamps, kitchen pans, etc for the large box (i.e., one standard microwave will fit into a small box, with a cushion on top).

You will only pay for the required boxes/boxes used. Any changes made will   be listed and charged/refunded accordingly upon delivery/collection.

8. When do you pack and collect?

We will inform you by email, the date your items are being collected, once your order form is processed. If you have specific requirements, please write this in the additional NOTES section on the order form. 

9. Can I store anything? And how long for?

You can store all items apart from flammable, perishables (food) and those deemed unhygienic, an attraction to vermin and pests, potentially dangerous or that could cause contamination.

We can take small/large items of furniture, i.e., airers, side tables, chairs. There will be a separate price for these on the order form, along with Bikes, Keyboards, Guitar and TV’s.

Storage can be booked for as many weeks as you require. If you do not pay for enough storage, do not worry - we will contact you to extend your storage, or alternatively arrange delivery.

Please note- prepacked items over 25kg will be charged as 2 large boxes. 

10. What about my empty suitcases?

We can take these to store and pack any remaining clothes in them. These will be classed as a ‘medium box pack’ on the order form. 

11. How and when will I pay for my services?

We accept payment by PayPal. Alternatively, you can contact us to arrange payment by credit /debit card or bank transfer to the following:

Payment is due at the time of booking. When you are either ready to be delivered out of storage or if no storage is required, we will contact you to arrange   delivery and take final payment.
